happy thoughts, a day late.

Since yesterday was Martin Luther King Day and I therefore had no school, my Tuesday was definitely more like my Monday. Yesterday consisted of time spent with the bf and bff, great food, better tv, books, quality time and was overflowing with things to make a person happy. Happy, however, when your day starts with a blaring 5:45 am alarm, is a little harder to come by.

Nevertheless, there were, of course, a million happy moments in my Tuesday.

1. We wrote our “dreams” after a long discussion of MLK and his life, and they were presh-ious. “I dream there will be no more arguing with guns but people finding peace,” and “I dream that people will start taking care of animals and be respectful of our world,” were some of the top tear-jerkers. And of course all of these were accompanied by darling illustrations of charming things like all the races of the world holding hands around the earth. Never a prouder teacher moment.

2. Magenta nails and tights inspired by Sydney on The Daybook, another super cute lady blogger.

3. The Golden Globes and all of this 80’s fashion. I feel like the only appropriate compliment of their style would be a Napoleon Dynamite quote, “I like your sleeves.” See Angelina Jolie, Julianne Moore, Anne Hathaway. Don’t love it. I do like fashion, but not that fashion. Shoulder pads and acid washed jeans will not make it into my closet - that’s a promise!

Also completely fashion unrelated, one of the writers of Glee, while accepting his Golden Globe, gave a shout out to public school teachers! You don’t get paid enough for what you do. Hardest job in the world.” You know me and Mel high fived on that one!

4. OJ. I love orange juice. I’ve had three glasses already today, which means not only am I being healthy and tickling the taste buds, but I’m helping ward off the germs that I am covered in after a day with the littles. Thank you nature for such a tasty cold remedy.

5. Aaaand last but not least, check out little Durham!! Our little town has made it onto the NY Times 41 Places to Go in 2011 list! Get excited people. We are right up there with Kosovo and Budapest. So come on down ya’ll for some Elmo’s Diner and Chubby’s Tacos. We may not be Greece, but we got charm!
